A Growing Passion for Italian

We’ve noticed a beautiful and deeply personal trend in language learning across the UK. More and more young students are choosing to study Italian—not just for the joy of learning a new language, but as a way to reconnect with their heritage.

Many of our learners have Italian grandparents or a parent from Italy, and through language, they are rediscovering family traditions, childhood stories, and cultural roots that feel both familiar and new. Italian is becoming more than just a skill—it’s a bridge to history, identity, and belonging.

We love being part of this journey, supporting students in developing fluency while deepening their connection to their ancestry in meaningful ways.

Italian and Spanish lessons

Our experienced PhD language instructor Letizia has been teaching Italian online with us for the past two years. She is also currently teaching Spanish A1 in person.

For Italian courses at levels B1 and B2/C1, we’ve been enhancing the learning experience by reading several novels from well-known Italian authors:

  • Il giornalino di Gian Burrasca by Vamba
  • I Racconti Romani by Alberto Moravia

More recently, following student requests, we’ve explored:

  • Fiabe di Fanciulle Fatate by Italo Calvino
  • Il Sentiero dei Nidi di Ragno by Italo Calvino

For Italian levels A1 and A2, learners have been enjoying graded readers, which are great for taking Italian to the next level:

  • Dolomiti by Andrea De Giuli
  • Mafia, Amore e Polizia
  • Pasta per Due

I highly recommend these graded stories—they’re fun with lots of useful idioms. They are essential for learners looking to build confidence and fluency!

French Lessons at B2 Level

Our French students have just finished reading Patapoufs et Filifers by André Maurois, a delightful fantasy novel about two boys who stumble upon an underground world filled with intriguing characters divided into two distinct groups—the Patapoufs and the Filifers.

Next, we’ll be diving into Le château de ma mère by Marcel Pagnol, a heartwarming novel that celebrates childhood memories and the author’s deep love for Provence.

I highly recommend these graded stories—they’re essential for learners looking to build confidence and fluency!

Language learning is more than just words—it’s connection, discovery, and growth. We’re thrilled to have such a wonderful learning community, and we look forward to seeing how you progress in the coming months!
